Why I don’t fan any football club: BP By Fr. Henry Charles Umelechi Football patronage goes with a lot of passion but many of us have always thought that they could handle the passion. Some actually handle it on their own but due to age and sickness, the passion overwhelms them. I was a strong fan of Manchester United before, but when I found out how passionately intoxicating and overwhelming it became for me such that sometimes I couldn’t eat or pray whenever Manchester United looses, I totally distanced myself from fanning any football club.   I asked myself: “If I get high blood pressure, and other related injuries physical and psychological because of this, who would pay me for that and who would I blame? Nobody ” The individuals footballers on the peach even enjoy the game more than us and recreate themselves too and get paid for the…

By Charles Igwe In a profound testimony of faith, Jimena, a 16-year-old Spanish World Youth Day pilgrim, shares her miraculous experience of regaining her sight after receiving the Eucharist at Fátima, Portugal, during a Mass there.   This remarkable account has stirred emotions and ignited hope among those who participated in the World Youth Day events, which united over a million young individuals in the Portuguese capital last week.   Hailing from Madrid, Jimena embarked on the pilgrimage to Lisbon as part of a group from Opus Dei. In the days leading up to the miraculous event, friends and family organized a novena, praying to Our Lady of the Snows, whose feast day coincided with August 5 – the very day Jimena’s sight was restored.   For two and a half years, Jimena had grappled with a severe loss of vision due to myopia, leaving her with a 95% visual…

By Jacqueline Burkepile, as edited by Fr. Henry Charles Umelechi These three priests were Fr. Thomas Byles (age 42) of England, Fr. Josef Benedikt Peruschitz, O.S.B. (age 41) of Bavaria, and Fr. Juozas Montvila (age 27) of Lithuania. Each of the priests died on the ship, and none of the bodies were recovered. The priests chose to minister to passengers on the ship rather than choosing a lifeboat to save their own lives. On the website dedicated to Fr. Thomas Byles, survivors explained their experiences with the priest on the ship. Pope St. Pius X even described Fr. Byles as a “martyr” for the faith. Here’s what one survivor said she witnessed as the ship sank: “When the crash came we were thrown from our berths… Slightly dressed, we prepared to find out what had happened. We saw before us, coming down the passageway, with his hand uplifted, Father Byles.…
