December, the Month of Felix Navidad.

December, the Month of Felix Navidad.

When I was the small thoughtless religious boy, I always got somewhat infuriated every December, whenever I hear the radios, televisions, etc, blaring “Felix Navidad.”

What concerns December with one Felix son of Navidad, I thought. Yes, because for me, “Felix” was the person’s first name, while “Navidad” was his surname.

I was angry because, I had always thought it to be so much unfair to be singing about one person called “Felix” always when we are celebrating about Christ Jesus’ birth.

In fact, all of us should put our names there when singing that song and not just sing joyously and foolishly about one unnconnected Felix to Christmas.

Later, at about 12 years of age, I dug deep on that supposed usurper called Felix Navidad;

these were my findings:

It is not even “Felix Navidad” but “Feliz Navidad”; a Spanish language. A Christmas song written in 1970 by the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter José Feliciano.

“Feliz” means “Merry or Happy”, while “Navidad” means Christmas. So, “Feliz Navidad” is simply “Happy Christmas or Merry Christmas.”

On these findings, I laughed myself to stupor.

Ignorance can really lead to unnecessary anger and worry that one suffers from, that can even lead you into unadulterated fanaticism.

Now, I knew why it’s said that Ignorance is a disease.

It then began to make sense.

Put smiles on the people’s faces before saying merry Christmas this December so that it makes more meaning, so that there should be really merry and happiness.

You can feed the hungry; visit your enemy; say hi to your haters; for once pray for the wife or husband you separated from or divorced; visit that person you hate visiting(be careful here); put a call across to that person you quit loving; smile to that person you always don’t smile to; visit that person you sent to prison; etc. And then say… MERRY CHRISTMAS, say that FELIZ NAVIDAD.

May be if you share this post, it can clear someone’s doubt and add more meaning to people’s lives.

Feliz Navidad to you all upront, dearest friends.
