2 Samuel 5:1-7,10
Psalm 88:20-22,25-26
Mark 3:22-30
In the first reading, the people recognized the preciousness of David before God and made him king over them.
Why is David precious before God?
This is because of the Love David has for God and the things of God that comes out in the way he related to others.
In the Gospel, the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem were saying, ‘Beelzebul is in him’ and, ‘It is through the prince of devils that he casts devils out.’
This is where they got it wrong: only a man driven by wealth, fame, selfishness, pride would use the power of Belzebub to help others.
Jesus was driven by love and works with the Power of God who is Love.
The saint of the today, Francis de Sales (1567 – 1622) preached with such effectiveness that after four years most of the people had returned to the Church. This was possible because of the Love he had. He preached not to win but driven by love.
He said, “whoever wants to preach effectively must preach with love.”
Child of God, Love is a principle of differentiation, it makes a lot of difference.
If we are driven by Love in our activities, we shall do great things for love and for humanity and bring up fallen humanity to a dignified state.
