The newly erected Diocese of Aguleri [nom. lat. Aguleriensis] is located in southeastern Nigeria, Anambra State, comprising four Local Government Areas: ANAMBRA WEST, ANAMBRA EAST, OYI AND AYAMELUM. The new ecclesiastical circumscription was created from the Archdiocese of Onitsha and made a suffragan of the same Metropolitan See.

The SEAT of the diocese is in the CITY OF AGULERI. The CATHEDRAL CHURCH of the new diocese will be the current ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH in Aguleri.
